Project Heron

£48,208 of £75,000 goal

In recent times, Wanstead CC has enjoyed unprecedented success. But, like every great club, we are always looking for ways to improve.

To build on our recent achievements on the field, our facilities need to be upgraded urgently. And we are rightly aiming high.

We’ve identified what we need: new, state-of-the-art ECB-certified nets, the same kind the players use at Lord’s.

But we need to raise £75,000 to fund the installation.

There’s no doubt it’s an ambitious target. But we’re an ambitious club.

And once we’ve raised the money and installed the nets, we won’t be stopping there.

We’re going to complete the clubhouse refurbishment, including new toilets, changing rooms and shower facilities.

Our aim is to have completed this work by the start of the 2020 season.

Project Heron will help ensure the future development and success of Wanstead CC for the next decade and beyond.

We’re confident that with your help we’ll raise the money needed.

So we’re creating opportunities for everyone to get involved, at every level of support you can give us.

‘The Cricket Ball’, Elvis and Caribbean nights were huge successes, and there are lots more fundraising events planned.

And, combined with a successful grant application, we’re already a significant way towards reaching our target.

But we still need your help.

So please: go to our fundraising page and give generously.

You’ll be helping future-proof Wanstead Cricket Club
for generations of Herons to come.

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded another large grant for Project Heron. This one is £10,000 and is from The National Lottery Community Fund.

This means that Project Heron has now raised over £45,000 towards its target of £75,000 for the new nets. We are confident of achieving our target but we still need your help. Remember a £100 donation gets you on our honours board, which will be in the club house! All donations are welcome! Every little bit helps!

I am delighted to announce that Sport England has awarded us a grant of £25,000 towards the cost of the new nets. This means that Project Heron has so far raised just over £35,000 towards our target of £75,000. This is fantastic news and is a significant step towards raising the money needed to replace our aging net facilities. Congratulations to the fundraising committee for all the work required to achieve this!

Sport England said "Sport England are excited to support this excellent project that will encourage the community to become more active"

Over the coming months, we will continue to organise events and apply for more grants to achieve our target. The opening season ball was an outstanding success. I would like to thank the 50 members who have made donations, in particular the 18 who have donated £100 or more. Remember a £100 donation gets you on our honours board, which will be in the club house! All donations are welcome! Every little bit helps! Please see the link below.

I would like to thank the fundraising committee of Joe Ellis-Grewal, Scott Emmons, Mark Bentley and Paul Hancock who continue to work hard behind the scenes to organise events, apply for grants, and produce high quality creative work. Please continue to support them in achieving our target.

How it Works
  1. You are donating to PayPal Giving Fund UK, a registered charity (No. 1110538), which will email you a receipt for your donation and claim Gift Aid where eligible.
  2. GoFundMe’s platform is free. The charity will typically receive the funds from PayPal Giving Fund within 15-45 days of your donation if the charity has enrolled (or 90 days if the charity has not yet enrolled). Unlike other platforms, 100% of any Gift Aid will go to the charity as well.
* In very limited cases, a recommended charity may cease to meet PayPal Giving Fund's legal or other eligibility requirements. In such cases, PayPal Giving Fund will reassign the funds to a similar charity, and (wherever possible) seek a new recommendation from donors.
