Hi, my name is Anna Hoover, and I am a local social worker and therapist in the Twin Cities.
In my work, I witness a great deal of distress every day. Many of my clients are experiencing food insecurity, facing eviction, and struggling to make ends meet. Some are BIPOC individuals living in fear due to ICE-related violence. Others—across all races, genders, sexuality and backgrounds—are doing their best to show up for their communities by protesting, organizing, and supporting fundraisers, while quietly going hungry themselves.
According to recent reports, U.S. employers announced over 108,000 layoffs in January 2026 alone—the highest January total since 2009. These cuts, driven by AI adoption, corporate restructuring, and reduced hiring, are expected to continue, with more than 60% of companies planning layoffs this year. The economic strain on working families is real and growing.
This GoFundMe is an open fundraiser for anyone who is struggling to meet their basic needs. As a social worker, I am connected to many families and individuals who are experiencing significant hardship under the current administration and economic climate.
For the sake of transparency, funds raised through this campaign will be distributed to individuals and families who reach out to me directly in need, or to trusted community members who are aware of urgent financial needs. All donations are given and distributed in good faith, with care and accountability.
Project Help Your Neighbor is our community-powered response to “Project 2025.” While politicians draft plans that cut safety nets and deepen inequality, we’re building something better—right here, right now. This project is about choosing mutual aid over misinformation, compassion over cruelty, and neighbors over neglect.
I believe the strongest resistance is care. When systems fail, we show up. When policies harm, we help. When people are pushed to the margins, we pull each other closer.
This isn’t charity—it’s solidarity.
This isn’t politics—it’s people.
Project Help Your Neighbor is how we protect our communities: one meal, one rent check, one act of care at a time.
Thank you for giving back to Project Help Your Neighbor, community care and mutual aid.
