Project 3580: Laurence’s Cricket match

Laurence Chinn-Brown Appeal.
Please help us raise £2,500 for Project.3580.
We are raising money for this charity by way of a cricket match between Bretforton cricket club and Keele University cricket club on Sunday 22nd June in memory of Laurence who tragically died from a brain haemorrhage in August 2021 aged just 22.
Laurence had just gained a first class honours degree in law from Keele University and was
a member of the university cricket team.
In his memory, his team members contacted his home club of Bretforton asking to play a match in his memory.
This has since become an annual charity event and this year we are raising money for Project.3580, a charity set up by one of Laurence’s High School teachers.
Project.3580 supports and helps fund a large refugee camp in Sierra Leone. The charity was set up by the teacher following a visit to the camp with his church almost 20 years ago.
Whilst there, a 10 year old girl became ill and died in his arms trying to get her medical help. On arriving at the medical facility, he saw the number 3580 written on the wall. When he asked what the number represented he was told that it was the number of children under 12 who had died in the camp that year from malaria.
He was so moved that when he came back home, he set up the charity Project.3580. Since then he has raised tens of thousands of pounds which has been used to provide clean water, thousands of mosquito nets, a small hospital, several school buildings and a church.
As a result, the death toll in the camp among young children has fallen to below 400 a year.
Believing education is the best way out of poverty for these children we are raising funds to build more classrooms and employ more teachers.
Last years match raised £5,000 which enabled the charity to build a new school block of 7 classrooms in Laurence’s name, which now teaches a further 420 children.
This year, with your help we are aiming to be able to build another which would give so many children real life changing opportunities.
Every penny donated goes directly to the project. There are no U.K. salaries or expenses. All U.K. support is entirely voluntary and you can be sure that any donations will go directly to support the project.
With your help we can make a real difference.
With grateful thanks.
