As you will all know, discussions have been on-going around the repair of Kersewell Avenue to bring it to a good standard. Following community meetings and information sharing, 3 quotes have been obtained, all to the exact same standard, and it is hoped that this can be done by the end of May.
As shared already, the lowest quote is by Sives Surfacing in Edinburgh at £22,703.50 plus VAT.
In the meetings we were unable to reach a full agreement, however there is growing feeling that the repairs are now critical and many residents are keen to avoid putting it through another winter of deterioration. Additionally, it has become apparent that no number of conversations or information will bring all parties to a single conclusion, so the decision has been made to push on.
Marchstone Homes, on behalf of their development, have offered to cover 60% of the cost, and also the VAT. This leaves a balance to find of £10,000.
The Medwyn Gardens Residents Association, who represent the 17 Muir Homes, have met with their residents and have agreement from these homes to contribute £400 per household to these costs - a total of £6,800. For full transparency we are inviting each of these households to pledge their contribution here. Many of the Muir residents have already set aside £100 in a central account. so this will be deposited here in a single amount of £1,600. Then 16 households will contribute a further £300 each with one final household contributing £400.
This means we have a shortfall of £3,200 to find. Some of you have already confirmed you are happy to contribute, and we would very much appreciate your support to get us to the TARGET £10,000.
Outside of the Marchstone development, 44 homes use this road on a daily basis to access their properties. 17 Muir homes have already committed. If each of the remaining 27 homes could find their way to putting in an amount they can afford, we can finally have a road which is a pleasure to use and matches the perfect location we all live in.
Please feel free to donate anonymously if that is your preference.
thank you neighbours - we are in this together as a community and together we can make great progress.
