Prisoners' Justice Day Healing Circle

The Prison for Women Memorial Collective (P4WMC) is raising money to organize a Healing Circle and Gathering at the Prison for Women(P4W) in Kingston for Prisoners Justice Day on August 10th. P4W was the only federal prison for women in Canada from 1934-2000. Today, former prisoners live all across the country, and we want to support their ability to travel here for what may be the last Healing Circle on the site since plans to tear down the building are imminent. Over the next year, we will be raising money to create a Memorial Garden where people can honor and remember all the women who have died in federal prisons across Canada. As well, we are designing and building a small Gallery where the art that women prisoners have created can be exhibited in order to destigmatize and express ourselves as the multi-dimensional people that we really are.
