End Recidivism: Men's work with inmates

I have been doing "men's work" with men for 3 years now with the Mankind project.  Recently I was asked if I would be interested in volunteering at the local jail working inmates to help them do their work. The experience has been so rewarding for these men as well as for me and now I've been asked to bring our work to another prison.

My Story:  Several years ago I was arrested by the FBI because someone we knew at the time wanted to get back at us so he reported to the FBI that I was some random stranger that was threatening to kill him even though he knew me and had been at my house several times for dinner and parties.  This man's lies to the FBI and prosecutors would be the beginning of a very troublesome time for me all based on false statements made to the FBI and Federal prosecutor's office.  The FBI and federal prosecutor would not listen to a word I or my attorney had to say about that.  The government decided they were going to prosecute me and had created a long list of crimes that I supposedly did with the intention of wanting me to serve 15-20 years.  I was put through the system and from that point on never viewed the government the same anymore. I was even told by my pretrial officer after I was convicted that I was used to better government statistics on fighting terrorism.  My whole world changed after that.  Now a convicted felon I lost my business that I was running at the time then shortly after had to sell my house before losing it to foreclosure.  I then spent years trying to get jobs and do work to make any kind of money I could.  I couldn't find a decent paying job as a felon.

It wasn't until several years later that I would join the Mankind Project through a good friend of mine.  There I did the work on myself to realize where that anger came from and how to deal with it.  The men's work has moved me emotionally and spiritually.  My new found passion to help those incarcerated comes from knowing that feeling of people judging you as a convicted felon as well as knowing that we all have some sort of trauma or situation that happens in our youth that eventually manifests itself into drug abuse, violence, alcoholism, sexual abuse or some other unhealthy way.  I feel connected to these men because of my own experience.  We are all men.  We all need the support.  We all need love.  We all need to be able to feel comfortable to share our fears and emotions. These men need our help to process all that and develop a sense of hope and compassion among others. Any one of these men could be someone you know personally.

The goal: Working together with CompassionPrisonProject.org and Mankindproject.org I will be working with the men in our prisons to help these men to become better men to themselves and to their communities and the world one prison at a time. The men that already have experienced this work have expressed so much gratitude and have changed so much.

Through men's work men to be accountable in their daily lives, develop compassion for others, learn to be self aware and dive into the deep childhood trauma that has set them on a destructive path.

The need for funding is immediate so I can get out to the prison/s in other states and work with these men.

As I develop this program more within the groups I'm working with I will grow the volunteers committed to helping these men. I'm asking for donations to help, as of now, to fund my expenses to these prisons. As this grows more funding will be needed to get more and more people traveling to prisons all over the country to help all men incarcerated to becoming better men.

If you are interested in becoming a part of this movement too contact me for more information or to get involved in the Mankind Project and sit with other men and become a better man.  Also, please contact me if you would also like to become part of the Compassion Prison Project and I can put you in touch with them.
