***THIS WAS ORIGINALLY A CAMPAIGN TO HELP JACQUES REPLACE HIS STOLEN LAPTOP (WHICH HE DID BECAUSE OF YOUR HELP!) BUT NOW IT IS URGENT THAT WE HELP JACQUE MAKE UP LOST INCOME DUE TO THE COVID-19 CRISIS AND SUPPORT HIM WITH NECESSARY FUNDS TO SURVIVE***
Jacques is a pillar of the Providence arts community. If you visit the AS220 Community Printshop, it’s likely that Jacques is the first person you’ll see. He is not only the smiling face of the printshop, he is its heart and soul. Whether you are a grizzled old offset mechanic, a young aspiring artist, or just a curious passer-by, Jacques will listen to your ideas, offer his help, and likely give you a free letterpress print of his personal motto: “Print like you give a damn!”
As many of you know, Jacques is an incredible teaching artist and his primary source of income is teaching highly technical printmaking classes that only can be taught in person. Due to the COVID-19 crisis and necessary social distancing procedures, all of Jacques classes at AS220 and RISD have been canceled and he has no income in the foreseeable future. Jacques' financial situation was precarious before this crisis and now he needs your help more than ever.
Now it is time for us to come together as a community and support him! Please give to this campaign if Jacques' classes, work, and spirit have touched your life in any way. It is essential that we band together this time of crisis and support the most vulnerable members of our community.
