Pride in the Peaks: Help Us Bring Matlock’s First-Ever Pride to Life!

We're thrilled to share that — after incredible support from our community and national media — Matlock will be hosting its very first Pride celebration in Hall Leys Park in June 2026, marking the powerful anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

This historic event has grown out of a grassroots movement that started with something as simple — and symbolic — as flying a Pride flag.

Earlier this year, a local act of intolerance made national headlines. But what followed was extraordinary. Our town stood up. People of all ages, identities, and backgrounds rallied together in solidarity. The response was loud, proud, and full of love. We were featured in the [BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp90z1yv9dlo.amp), and what could have been a moment of division became a turning point of unity.

From that moment, Pride in the Peaks was born.

Why We Need Your Support

Organising a public event — especially one that’s safe, inclusive, and accessible to all — comes with costs. We're asking for your help to raise funds so we can make Pride in the Peaks a beautiful, bold, and barrier-free celebration for everyone in our town and beyond.

* Security and first aid to keep everyone safe

* Decorations, flags, and signage to bring the park to life

* Community stalls for local LGBTQ+ businesses, organisations and allies
