Many women in low-and-middle-income countries across the globe face adverse circumstances beyond their control, including not having access to quality medical services. Cervical cancer is the number one cause of cancer-related death for reproductive-age women in countries where adequate screening and treatment are not available.

Each year Dr Jean Talbert, Ob/Gyn, goes to Kenya to offer her services at a PINCC (Prevention of Cervical Cancer) Clinic. It was my good fortune to work with Jean as co-chairs of the Falmouth Hospital Women's Health Care Task Force. Since I was a child it has been my dream to travel to Africa to participate in a clinic for disease prevention. Over the past 18 months I have battled cancer, thus Jean thought my passion for wanting to participate in a clinic would be served well by travelling with her to Kenya on one of trips to do just that.

Each volunteer pays their own way. The cost of a trip runs about $3500. Due to my circumstances of being furloughed during the pandemic, a new diagnosis of breast cancer and prolonged trreatment, I was unable to work. Therefore I am unable to cover all the costs of this trip. I am reaching out to my friends and colleagues who suggested that I utilize the GoFundMe site to support me in achieving this life long dream.
