We’re raising funds to help Nancy Southern. As a longtime holistic coach, healer, artist, and all-faith minister, she has spent many years supporting people during some of their hardest moments. Now, she’s facing a time where she needs that same support in return.

Nancy owned her home for over 10 years. During COVID,, in the spring of 2022, she lost the job she was deeply passionate about, and without that income, she was forced to sell her home and move quickly. After a difficult and unexpected transition, she found a small apartment that she has truly made into a home. It is safe, clean, and supportive, and she has built strong friendships and a sense of belonging within this over 55+ community.

Adding to this hardship, in 2025, Nancy experienced a financial loss that depleted all of the funds from her home sale, leaving her without a cushion to absorb rising expenses. Without temporary financial support, Nancy is unable to sign a 12-month lease. This forces her into month-to-month housing, which comes with additional fees and much higher monthly costs, making an already difficult situation even more unsustainable and making her vulnerable to eviction.

Today, Nancy lives on a very limited Social Security income, which simply is not enough to cover rising housing costs. She has applied for housing assistance, but waiting lists are extremely long and currently CLOSED to new applicants. Due to extremely high demand, current wait times range from 6 months to two years.

Despite her best efforts, there are no immediate programs available to help bridge the gap.

This fundraiser is meant to prevent eviction. She needs to raise $2900 month by month to remain in her apartment until she can secure other housing.

Nancy has spent her life helping others through compassionate coaching, healing work, and creative expression. She has supported countless people with care, wisdom, and generosity. Now, she needs support from her family, friends, and community.

At 77, starting over again should not be the only option. Keeping Nancy in her apartment means preserving her safety, her community, and the life she has worked diligently to build since moving to Bellingham in 2011.
