WHO ARE WE?
"Nantucket Together" is a grassroots citizens group of Nantucket homeowners with strong ties to the island, who are focused on the preservation of traditional Nantucket Vacation Rentals (NVR) and support for the local economy.
We believe proposals to significantly curtail the lodging visiting families prefer will have a profound impact on Nantucket's economy, its tax revenue, and the property rights of all residents. Legislating far-reaching changes without a factual understanding of the impact is reckless.
We are a 100% volunteer non-profit that does not accept donations from corporations, online rental platforms, or investor-only short-term rental operators.
OUR OBJECTIVES:
- Share information and elevate issues.
- Speak with one voice.
- Represent the entire island community with organized force.
- Propose solutions to the island's challenges.
- Oppose and defeat initiatives that are harmful to our community.
- Support quality of life initiatives.
- Prevent future commercialized residential investment by off-island entities, designed principally for financial gain, and with no family or personal ties to the island.
- Offer temporary lodging in emergency situations.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We have been successfully defeating harmful town warrant articles since 2021, at every Nantucket Annual Town Meeting (ATM) and Special Town Meeting. The 2025 STM includes a protective zoning article (1) that clarifies zoning protections for all short and long term rentals. The STM 2025 warrant also includes a town-sponsored artice (2) that threaten the rights of families and individuals to continue in the vacation rental tradition that has spanned 3 different centuries on the island. Let's support our local businesses and town government that rely on the revenue from STRs that is funded by our visitors.
Our fundraising goal is based on our annual costs to educate and get out the vote. Let's finally put this debate to rest and focus all of our energies on the many more critical issues now facing our island.
