Preserve Queer History: Support Archival Project

Donation protected
I’ve been working with the archival materials of a queer land project in that’s existed for over 50 years, over 45 of which as a queer community. I’ve sorted, assessed, repacked for temporary storage, and am digitizing the materials. The digitization is to ensure their preservation, NOT to make the materials available online. Digitization is a backup of the materials. And would allow for safeguarding in a secure location. As the materials are digitized the papers will be filed into cabinets.

The project expenses grew significantly after excavating thousands of photos. The photos will be placed in archival sleeves in binders so they can be safely viewed. In order to protect the photos from rodent activity the plan is for the photo binders to be stored in a large cabinets. It’s unfortunately not easy to get large cabinets to a rural location, much less find ones the right size and transport them, which is why I’m looking at new ones.

Here’s the current estimated expenses:
$1000- cabinets
$700- 3 ring binders, photo sleeves, page protectors
$700- Two 18TB External Hard Drives
$250- File Folders, expandable file folders
$350- Archival paper clips, post it’s, miscellaneous supplies
$50- Blank CD’s
