For over 13 years, Leah's Cakery has been honored to celebrate life's sweetest moments with the Round Lake community and families throughout the Capital Region. From birthday cakes and wedding cakes to morning pastries, holiday traditions, and baking classes, you've made Leah's Cakery so much more than a bakery—you've made it a community home. Today, we're embarking on the biggest project in our history. The historic West Side General Store building that has housed Leah's Cakery for more than a decade requires significant structural restoration to preserve this important piece of Round Lake's history. Rather than closing our doors, we've made the difficult decision to temporarily relocate production to a nearby facility so we can continue serving our customers while the historic building is restored. When renovations are complete, we'll return to 3 Curry Avenue as Leah's Café—a welcoming bakery café where neighbors can gather over coffee, cyclists can stop in from the Zim Smith Trail, families can enjoy breakfast and lunch, local artisans can showcase their work, and our community can continue making memories together.
This transition comes with tremendous financial challenges. While we're actively pursuing grant funding to help make this vision possible, those funds are not guaranteed and, if awarded, will take time to become available. In the meantime, we're carrying the costs of maintaining our business, building out a temporary production space, investing in new equipment, and preparing for the restoration of our historic home—all while continuing to operate and support our employees. Your contribution will help offset these expenses during this critical transition period, including temporary operating and relocation costs, construction and renovation expenses, equipment and infrastructure needed to continue serving our customers, payroll and business operating expenses during the transition, and preserving the historic home of Leah's Cakery while we await grant decisions.
