Preserve Knights Ferry’s Legacy of Kindness and Care

Donation protected
The Knights Ferry Free Market Collective is community-led and community-fed. We serve and support our neighbors any way we can. From December of 2021 to January of 2025, we have provided monthly food boxes, brought to us by the Modesto Love Center and the CSFP food bank in Modesto. These food boxes are a true blessing to the families that receive them. But these food boxes are only made for a single serving and can only provide so much for a family.

As of February 2025, we have upped our operation and have been providing more to our guests! We now provide household and hygiene items, farm-fresh fruits/vegetables, community service, art classes, and educational workshops to those in need. We also have a team of licensed doctors and specialists on-site providing free medical care and resources. Bridging gaps and opening doors to bring our community to a higher level of living. Our goal is to give help to those in need. We pride ourselves in supporting other non-profit organizations, local farms, artisans, businesses, and entrepreneurs by donating time, money, and resources. Highlighting land conservation and organic living throughout all the work we do. We see the work we do as a vital role that is missing in communities.

We are seeking $28,800 to expand, and secure the Free Market’s headquarter space for one year. This will allow our ideas to come to fruition and the seeds of new ideas to be planted and nurtured for generations.
The space will be next door to the Knights Ferry Community Church. This is the home of the late Jim and Sherron McCarthy. The home came to them through the Gaertner family. Without planning, the two families had the same life focus, a legacy of support and love for their community. The current owner, Sean McCarthy, is enthusiastic to continue this generational legacy and partner with the Free Market Collective. He stated that this is a beautiful way to bring the past legacy into the future: “The successful acts of kindness, for children, senior citizens, community and church members under the umbrella of the Knights Ferry History Museum Associates, has built this community. This has given us all great hope. It’s clear that the Free Market Collective’s unique nonprofit business plan can continue the work that was started by former generations of patriarchs from this beloved town.” This property fulfills our needs exceptionally.
