Preserve Idaho History: Support Gilmore Mercantile
Donation protected

Hello, my name is Derric. I have been given an opportunity to preserve a piece of Idaho history, the Gilmore Mercantile located in the ghost town of Gilmore, Idaho.
I am trying to raise funds to stabilize and secure this building, preserving it for future generations to enjoy.
All donations will be put towards this effort covering the costs of leveling and stabilizing onto a more permanent foundation.
I am assembling a volunteer team of people with skills and knowledge of building and construction to level and stabilize the building. The goal is to get it back to a state of being structurally sound and solid to begin the next phase of partial restoration. The ultimate goal is to get the building looking like it did in the 1960s when it was closed, a living time capsule of sorts.
The Gilmore Mercantile was founded and built in 1909 by Edgar and Swartz Ross. It served as the post office for the mining town of Gilmore for several years, eventually becoming the town's general store right up until the 1960s when it was finally closed forever. The years have not been kind to the building. Vandals, thieves, age, and the elements have taken their toll, and without intervention, it won’t be long before it’s nothing but a distant memory lost to history.
I’m not a man that enjoys asking for help, but I simply don’t have the funds to do this alone. I do, however, have the skills and tools needed to lead a team to accomplish this task. Donor names will be added to a permanent display inside the mercantile building. I’d appreciate you joining me on this journey of preserving history for future generations to enjoy as I have. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
