This Eagle Project focuses on completing the documentation and database of veteran tombstones at St. John's Cemetery on the Stamford/Darien

border, specifically targeting the unmapped sections west of the Metro-North train tracks and east of the Noroton River along Camp Avenue. The project

involves systematically recording detailed inscription data from veteran grave markers in areas 10 and 11, which remain incomplete from previous Eagle

Scout efforts by AJ Pellicci and Orlando Camacho. Rather than attempting to capture GPS coordinates for individual graves, the project will create

accurate maps and record GPS coordinates for the beginning and end of each row of grave markers. This approach balances thoroughness with

practicality, as previous scouts found individual GPS tracking too time-consuming and inaccurate. The completed catalog will provide valuable

genealogical and historical records while honoring veterans' service, with all documentation following established formats from prior projects to ensure

consistency for the VFW sponsor and cemetery records. The project represents a meaningful service to both the veteran community and local historians

seeking comprehensive cemetery documentation. I will work closely with the VFW as the sponsoring organization and build upon the foundation

established by previous Eagle Scouts who tackled earlier sections of this multi-phase cemetery documentation effort.

Building upon the comprehensive cemetery documentation efforts, a long-term goal involves developing a searchable online database and website that

will serve as a digital repository for veteran grave marker information across multiple local cemeteries. This web-based platform would allow families,

genealogical researchers, historians, and community members to easily search for veteran burial sites using various criteria such as name, military

branch, conflict served, dates of service, or cemetery location. The database would integrate the detailed inscription data, photographs, and precise

mapping coordinates collected through Eagle Scout projects like my current work, creating a lasting digital memorial that honors veterans' service while

providing invaluable research tools for future generations. The website would feature user-friendly search capabilities, interactive cemetery maps, and

the ability to contribute additional information or corrections, ensuring the database remains current and comprehensive. This digital preservation effort

would transform individual Eagle Scout projects into a coordinated, accessible resource that serves the broader community's need for historical

documentation while providing a meaningful way to honor and remember local veterans' sacrifices. The platform could eventually expand to include oral

histories, military records, and connections to national veteran databases, creating a comprehensive regional resource for military genealogy and

historical research.
