Supporting Charles and Our Family Home During This Time of Loss

Our beloved mother/grandmother/great grandmother has passed away, and we need your help supporting her devoted caregiver and cherished home.

With a heavy heart, I share that my grandmother Michaelene "Mickey" Whiteman has passed away. It has been so hard losing someone so wonderful and supportive all our lives. With her passing, she leaves behind our beloved childhood home and her son Charles who devoted his life to living and being with her as a full-time caregiver, ensuring she was comfortable, loved, and cared for in her own home. Charles put his own life on hold to provide the round-the-clock care she needed, and his selfless dedication allowed our grandmother to live with dignity and surrounded by love.

Now that she's gone, Charles is facing significant financial challenges as he rearranges his life, purpose, priorities and goals. As many may know, living on a reservation poses significant barriers and challenges including very limited job opportunities, crumbling home infrastructure, and long distance travel to closest stores and higher level of care services. As her primary caregiver, Charles's opportunities working outside the home were very limited, and the costs associated with her passing - transportation costs from Crow Agency to Billings relating to healthcare and funerals costs, upcoming household bills and maintenance, and basic living expenses - are overwhelming. We all want to help preserve the home her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren have gotten to come back to and help give Charles a hand to getting back on his feet to readjust a life without his best friend and mother.
