Preserve Cypress Lakes Golf Course (Legal Effort)
Donation protected
Cypress Lakes Golf Course in Cypress, Texas (18700 Cypresswood Dr.) is undergoing permitting for redevelopment as residential with ~600 new homes planned for the area. Precinct 3 (and more specifically Cypress) already has the largest park deficit in the region and many members of the community have expressed that they would like to see the golf course preserved. Despite that the course is set to close in early July 2025, we still have a chance to save this land from residential development. We have been in touch with a professional consultant and legal representation and were informed that the surrounding community has a strong case to make for preservation. If you want to push back on this development, please consider helping to support the costs of litigation so that we can make the best effort possible to stop the redevelopment.
The legal case will revolve around the surrounding communities that were developed after the golf course's inception in 1999. Many people live on the golf course and will be impacted the most by the development including through property devaluation, the need to add fencing and landscaping screens, and the unwanted noise and sights of construction. However, even those that do not live on the golf course have expressed concerns over flood zone impacts, traffic, increased student populations, construction noise, and wildlife preservation - to name a few. Many of the golfers who use the course are frustrated that there will be fewer public courses available at a reasonable price.
