Every movement leaves behind stories, but not every story survives.
Across Bangladesh, generations of feminists have organized for gender justice, labor rights, Indigenous sovereignty, queer rights, democracy, secularism, and social change, but the photographs, posters, newsletters, personal papers, oral histories, and everyday memories that document these movements remain scattered, fragile, and at constant risk of being lost.

The Bangladesh Feminist Archives (BDFA) was created to ensure these histories are preserved.

BDFA is Bangladesh's first intersectional feminist archive dedicated to documenting and preserving the histories of feminist movements and the communities that have shaped them. We collect oral histories, photographs, publications, personal papers, organizational records, audiovisual materials, and other archival collections to build a secure, ethical, and accessible archive for future generations.

We believe archives are more than repositories of the past. They are spaces of memory, resistance, and accountability. Preserving these histories means ensuring that the people who challenged inequality, built communities, and imagined more just futures are not forgotten.
Today, BDFA is entirely community-led and volunteer-run. We receive no core institutional funding. Every donation directly supports the work of preserving Bangladesh's intersectional feminist histories.

Your contribution will help us:

Record oral histories with activists across generations.

Digitize photographs, posters, publications, and endangered archival materials.

Preserve community collections using ethical and secure archival practices.

Maintain and expand our free digital archive and website.

Support volunteers, workshops, and community outreach across Bangladesh.

Build a sustainable archive that remains accessible to activists, researchers, educators, students, journalists, and the public.

Whether you give $10 or $1,000, every contribution helps protect stories that might otherwise disappear forever. If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign with your friends, colleagues, and networks is another meaningful way to support our work.

History does not preserve itself. It survives because people choose to protect it.
