American Legion Post 14 W.A. Hudgens, Anderson, SC. We are seeking funds for facilities improvements and upkeep, including but not limited to sewer line, parking lot, and tree removal. Along with our Auxiliary, we sponsor youth to attend SC Boys and Girls State for a one-week educational immersion in our democratic process. We also sponsor American Legion Boys' baseball and Girls' softball teams. Our facility is also used by the DAV Chapter 40 (Disabled American Veterans) on a weekly basis. Marine Corps League 1106, Vets Helping Vets, Young Marines, and various other veteran outreach groups use our facility. In cooperation with Anderson School District 5 we sponsor naming a teacher of the year. As in the previous over 100 years, we continue to be a gathering place for community events. Our Post is named after Lt. W. A. Hudgens. He was killed in action during World War I near Bellicourt, France. Our charter is dated 21 August, 1919. Our current building was dedicated 5 September, 1939. W. A. Hudgens Post 14 of the Department of South Carolina of the AMERICAN LEGION has been in continuous service to our veterans, active-duty service members, families, and our area youth ever since. The aerial view of our post shows the current and future work for water abatement, parking lot improvements, and tree removal. This current and future work is done in the spirit of good stewardship of our facilities. All to ensure another 100 years of service to our future veterans and community. American Legion Post 14 W.A.
