Help a Grieving Mother Receive the Postpartum Support She Deserves
In the early hours of June 19, 2025, a pregnant woman’s life changed forever.
Her husband—her partner, her baby’s father—lost his life unexpectedly in a plane crash. Gentry is due to give birth to their first baby in October. Her husband Geoffrey was "unabashedly himself. His zest for life and joy-filled spirit were palpable to all who met him. He found delight and meaning in the simple and sometimes not so simple act of helping others and did so without hesitation. For my part, life with him was as easy as breathing and in the truest sense he was my other half. He was my rock, my touchstone, my dearest friend, my greatest support, and my source of endless joy and strength. I am beyond shattered. Sharing this life with him has been the greatest gift, except for our daughter who will be here in 3 short months. She will be a new source of light, joy and hope. ... He was so excited to become a father, and he told me so every day."
As she faces the unimaginable, our doula community is rallying around her. Our team will be supporting her daily throughout her pregnancy and birth. She will need compassionate, skilled, ongoing support—not only through birth, but through the long, tender weeks that follow.
This fund will allow us to provide support for baby items needed and also comprehensive postpartum doula care:
• Emotional support and grief-informed care
• Infant feeding and newborn care guidance
• Household help and meal prep
• Consistent, loving presence during a time of deep vulnerability
We believe no one should have to walk through birth and early parenting alone—especially not while grieving.
100% of the funds raised will go toward baby items and postpartum support for this mother. It will ensure she receives care without requiring the doulas to volunteer their time indefinitely. This is about honoring her and respecting the essential work of those who care for her.
Whether you give $1 or $1,000, please know:
You are helping to hold someone in the darkest season of her life.
You are saying, “You are not alone.”
Thank you for your care, your generosity, and your belief in the power of community.
With much love,
