Dear friends,

This fundraiser is to build a prototype of a tiny cottage to save lives of unhoused people, It's a project by Omni's Gateway Project NWA. An experiment to relieve the homelessness situation in our community and we hope some of y'all can help us start in a good way.

Gateway is a group of Omni folks who are really concerned about the unhoused people we're all seeing on our streets. The point in time counts that show our homeless population went up another 24% last year. The situation is out of control and there's good reason to think it won't get better very soon.

Fayetteville's working hard to build more affordable housing, and lots of good service agencies are managing needs. But something needs to be done about those who just do not have a safe and stable place to lay their heads at night.

Gateway has ideas about how to help, and they start with a safe place to camp, and a cozy cottage.

Gateway Project and Natural Natural State Treehouses are going in together to show just how do-able cottages for unhoused people can be. To make our point, we're going to build a prototype of this charming design so people see the dream.

You can help, friends! Treehouse Builders is collecting re-cycled building materials to create this snug cottage, and also take great big stuff out of our landfill. It's such a win-win for Fayetteville.

When as much as we can find has been collected, Treehouse Builders will organize a carpentry class in Omni's back yard and volunteers will learn the ropes of cottage building.

Whatever materials aren't donated we'll need to buy, so we're aiming to raise $5400 for each cottage. If we get lots of donated materials and don't need all the money it will be used for more cottages down the road. Someday maybe Fayetteville will find the right spot for a little community of these warm and comfy shelters where we can all be proud of how our city takes care of its vulnerable.
