Our daughter, Audrey, tragically passed away at the age of 23 on Sept. 4, 2020. Audrey was a true gift from above. Born Ryan on December 22, 1996, she bravely set sail on a transgender path of transitioning to Audrey Nicole shortly after graduating high school. She was a brave soul, but oh so fragile in so many ways.
Quiet and shy, yet sometimes very opinionated, Audrey had a passion for helping the most vulnerable in our society . . . the homeless. She would often give the very last dollar she had to a needy person with a street sign on the corner.
In honor of Audrey, we are declaring December 2020 (and every December hereafter) as "Angels for Audrey" month. It's a month that everyone can lend a hand and make someone's day brighter during the Holiday season
You can become an Angel for Audrey in the following ways:
1) Donate to a local homeless shelter or a charity that helps those less fortunate in your community. Any amount will be appreciated and goes a long way in making your city or town more compassionate for the homeless. Simply note on your donation its from you in memory of Audrey Nicole Stiles, an angel in heaven.
2) Reach out personally by doing something nice when you encounter a person in need in your community. Buy them breakfast lunch or dinner, give them a blanket, or words of encouragement. Tell them Audrey is watching over them, and there's an angel in heaven for those in need.
3) Donate to this GOFUNDME effort. Linda, Becky, Libby, grandson Charlie and I are putting together holiday bags for the homeless, and will be distributing them throughout the Phoenix area. Every dollar we receive will be used toward filling these bags with essential items, like toiletries, canned food items, gift cards for meals, and clothing such as socks, gloves and blankets.
Our plan is on December 22, 2020 (Audrey's 24th birthday) to distribute these bags to as many people as we can and will continue to give these out until the funds are exhausted.
Of course, with every gift, we will be telling the recipient "It's from Audrey! You've been touched by an angel!"
There are more exciting plans to announce soon including the formation of a non-profit for this effort, and possibly fundraising efforts to include auction items, special events and more helpful ways we all can make this world a better place for those in need . . . the homeless.
It's what Audrey would have wanted . . .
And to you Audrey . . . Mom, Dad, your sisters Becky and Libby, and especially your nephew Charlie, along with so many family and friends, miss you so much. We hope that heaven is everything you wanted and deserved. We will continue to honor your memory with this effort.
