Aid Prayukti's Community Impact Programs

Who we are:

Prayukti Arts was founded in 2017 as a dance institution by Nitya Narasimhan. The name comes from a Sanskrit concept meaning “motive” or “consequence.” Prayukti Arts transformed into an independent art organization with an art space to run our programs in July 2022.

Staying true to the origin of our name, we have been fiercely motivated to build and serve our community, being very aware of the impact and consequence of our every action. We have a deep passion to nurture an intentional, diverse, and inclusive community for the arts across the Bay Area through programs, performances, discussions, classes, and movement-based community events.

Our programs invite artists and art enthusiasts from around the world to engage with and create art that interfaces thoughtfully with South Asian art forms.

At Prayukti, our artistic programs aim to:
- Highlight the rich depth of South Asian arts.
- Bridge the gap between performer and audience.
- Create meaningful, lifelong learnings for art students.
- Involve the larger South Asian community in creative ventures.
- Expand the audience base for South Asian arts.

Prayukti strives to create a safe and welcoming space that nurtures learning, appreciation of art, discussion, feedback, and sustainable creativity. We also wish to open opportunities for collaboration and coming together of the larger, very rich and talented arts community in the Bay Area.

Major Highlights of 2024 :

Prayukti Arts was recognized by the city of Sunnyvale for its contribution to the arts through the Sunnyvale City Community Awards presented by Mayor Larry Klein.

1. The Interplay Arts Festival
In June, we launched our one-of-a-kind live music and dance festival, bringing together over 30 talented local artists across music, dance and instrumentalists to collaborate and present their work. This festival perfectly embodied Prayukti’s vision and was a resounding success.

2. Master Classes in Dance
We hosted two engaging master classes with Smt. Vidhya Subramanian and Smt. Meera Sreenarayanan, both of which were well-received by the dance community and students of dance across the Bay Area.

3. Chamber Concert Series
We curated two intimate and beautiful Carnatic concerts featured Smt. Sriranjani Santanagopalan and Shri Madhav Iyengar, enriching the musical experience of our community.

4. Annual Showcase
We presented our first-ever thematic annual program, Madhuvana, showcasing the learnings and joy of dance from our student community, ranging from ages 4 to 50.

5. Student Recitals
We proudly presented our first student arangetram for Smt. Suman Chandra in September 2024. Earlier in the year we also presented a full length margam by senior student Smt. Charanya Kannan, supported by ACTA (Alliance of California Traditional Arts).

While this year deepened our focus on learning and practice and created life long bond among our student community, our general community and artistic programs were limited due to a lack of funding.

As we continue to grow as an organization and create a nurturing space for artists, we are looking for your support in helping raise funds to sustain our artistic programs, particularly our community and artistic programs for the upcoming year. The estimated amount needed to manage and execute these events smoothly is $10,000.

Where does your funding go:

  • Fair compensation for featured artists.
  • Expansion of our team and fair remuneration for staff.
  • Funding for planning, managing, marketing, and executing programs.
  • Funding for handling logistics that take care of artists' hospitality.
  • Equipment for running events - Lights, Sount Equipment, Mats, Chairs, etc.
  • Facilities for documenting events - Photography and Videography.
  • Hospitality for audience members.
  • Providing subsidized studio space for full-time artists.

Every donation, small or big, will make a difference. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
