Aloha family and friends,
For those of you that don't know who I am, my name is Josh Pico, father to Jayla Pico. My family and I, as well as generations before me, were born and raised in Lahaina, Maui. The once beautiful community we cherished, loved and made memories of now lie in ruins. Unfourtently, my brother and his family home were one of them. I'm just thankful they are safe. As for my daughter, I thank God every day for keeping her safe! Thanks to her mother for getting her to safety. Now, we are reaching out to you, our extended family, to help us rebuild and restore. We know times are tough but anything helps even if it's just a share.
Rest in peace Papa Pablo, we love you!
During the evacuation, the family was separated, and Mama Nelda found herself alone with Papa Pablo trying desperately to run from the raging fire. Unfortunately, Papa Pablo, who was partially paralyzed on one side of his body found it difficult to run away from the fire. Mama Nelda desperately attempted to save him by dragging him, but he was too heavy for her. She did not want to leave her husband’s side, but he insisted she save herself for the sake of the family. The next day was Mama's birthday. ( this was taken from my family page)
The story of our Papa Pablo being a hero!
