Jasher campos was taken to the hospital on January 12th for a seizure he had at home. initially they said he was low on electrolytes but because they couldn’t determine the cause of the drop in electrolytes that led to his seizure while at the emergency room he had his second seizure this prompted more urgency and they were transferred to chop hospital at which point he was tested for COVID and came back positive. He had no fever and none of the known symptoms, besides the seizure he was a healthy teething baby and the only noticeable change was that he preferred to Nurse for feeds instead of the bottle.

while under observation at Chop more tests were done to check his brain function, those came back good. he began to swell and stopped urinating which led to his little body getting filled with fluid and he required intubation to help him breath while this was going on to his little body. All signs pointed to a rare diagnosis called asymptomatic HUS a genetic syndrome that affects the way his kidneys work.

the battle began after this, he received a treatment for this disease called eculizumab (Solaris) & a temporary dialysis line place in his neck to begin a kind of continuous dialysis called CRRT and while it temporarily worked and he came off the breathing tube and looked a lot better it only lasted 20 hours.

During those 20 hours my sister was able to hold him and he was breathing on his own wonderfully until eventually at about 2am on January 21st his lungs filled up with fluid and he went into cardiac arrest. God was present and they were able to bring him back from this traumatic experience. Being stabilized somewhat he was back on continuous dialysis but then the temporary line became an issue because our Jasher is a fighter and would move around which would cause the dialysis machine to clot. This would result in multiple blood transfusions because the machine would stop before returning all of his blood. Understanding the need to get the excess fluid off he was taken to get a permanent dialysis line placed. What is a common occurrence and a “simple procedure” with “rare risks “ resulted in another terrifying night for my sister and brother in law. Jasher was brought back from the procedure that seemingly went smoothly and would not stop bleeding. 6 days after watching him go into cardiac arrest they watched him go pale and nearly bleed to death in front of them. But still God was there & through the help of the team at chop he was stabilized once again. Since then he has been on a paralytic and sedated so that for his safety he doesn’t open his wounds, and now that the permanent line is in the machines performing the dialysis are just not acting right. If this results to be an issue with the permanent line placed they may have to do another surgery which after the first would be very risky. He was being observed for 24 hours to see how much fluid he could get rid of on his own, but with so much time off dialysis his right lung has filled with fluid and collapsed so they are treating multiple things at once. we are praying he heals and is brought back home healed, but the reality is this is only the beginning.

Prior to this my sister was putting her all into being a young female entrepreneur owner of a transportation business. Her concept was being looked at by investors and with the help of her husband throughout a pandemic they were transporting clients, homeschooling their oldest children, investing their entire savings in themselves and enjoying their happy healthy three boys their youngest having just turned 7 months old. Because of this everything has come to a complete stop, for two weeks she didn’t even leave the hospital and when she finally did to see her boys she was torn knowing this is scary for them as well and they also need their mom. With things happening literally day and night it’s difficult for them to leave to be with the older boys let alone find the right time to resume business as usual.

We’d like to show them just how much support they have by helping with their living expenses and seeing if we can come up with their rent for the next few months so that they have one less worry on their minds. Anything helps and this is not something they asked for this is something as her big sister I would like to do for her knowing the unimaginable pain she must be going through and knowing that everything is on hold in her life until her baby boy is okay. It’s okay if you can’t donate regardless we ask that you pray for baby Jasher Isaac Campos. Praying that God through the physicians and his wonders of healing is able to make him whole and she can bring him home is all she’s asks for.
