This is a cry for help I never imagined I would be making.
Last week, my brother-in-law, Brian Ross, suffered a devastating stroke caused by a blood clot. They removed half of his skull in a failed attempt to stop the swelling.
He is currently in the ICU, fighting for his life on life support. Our family is living hour by hour, holding onto hope, prayer, and faith as we face something that feels impossible to comprehend.
Brian is the strongest, most caring, and hardest-working man you could ever meet. He is a devoted husband, a loving father, and a fighter in every sense of the word.
As if this unimaginable crisis wasn’t enough, Brian has already endured a life-altering trauma in recent years. Following a severe work-related accident, he underwent more than a dozen surgeries in an attempt to save his leg.
Despite every effort, it became a matter of life or death, he ultimately had to make the heartbreaking decision to have his left leg amputated.
Not only did Brian lose his leg, he lost his business, and suffered major financial hardships and setbacks.
What followed was nothing short of remarkable.
Brian taught himself how to walk again. He pushed through pain most people couldn’t imagine. He was told he would never skate again—but he proved them wrong, returning to the ice and sharing that joy with his son, Dominic. A former hockey player himself, skating wasn’t just movement for Brian—it was life, strength, and connection.
Brian never asked for help. Not then. Not ever.
Now, as he fights for his life in the hospital—during the Christmas season, a time meant for family, warmth, and togetherness—his wife Jill and their young son Dominic are facing overwhelming uncertainty. Jill cannot work while staying by Brian’s side, and the financial weight of medical expenses and ongoing responsibilities continues to grow.
This GoFundMe is about helping Jill and Dominic breathe, just a little. It’s about easing the financial burden so they can focus on what matters most: being together, loving Brian, and holding onto hope.
Any contribution—no matter the size—means more than words can express. And if you’re unable to donate, please pray, share, and keep Brian in your thoughts.
Dominic just wants his daddy to come home.
Jill needs her best friend, her partner & her rock.
Life isn’t fair. He is far too young for this.
We are devastated—but we are still believing
We love you, Bri.
