Prayers and Support for The Colby Family

"Devastated. This is the only word that has felt fitting in the situation we have found ourselves in. How are we? Devastated. How are the kids? Devastated. How are our parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles? Devastated.

Holly Kathleen Colby

8 lb 2.5 oz, 20 inches long

February 24th, 2025

We arrived at the hospital. The plan was to have the doctor break my waters since I was already dilated to 4 cm. We were ready to meet our baby and were eager to finally find out the gender, as this was our surprise baby. Upon hooking up the fetal heart rate monitor, the nurse couldn't find the heartbeat. This was confirmed by 2 more machines and then the doctor with an ultrasound. We found ourselves arguing with the doctor. Their machines must not be working properly. An official ultrasound machine and technician confirmed our worst fear: we would be coming home with empty arms.

We are incredibly grateful for the time we were able to spend with our sweet Holly. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support we have already received and continue to receive. We have been asked, "How can we help?" and, at this point, we don't even know. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Give us grace in our responses or lack thereof.
