The Biller family is walking through an unimaginable season, and we are asking our community to surround them with prayer, love, and support.

Over the past several weeks, Michelle Biller suffered two strokes related to a rare mitochondrial disease called MELAS— a disease she shares with her 14 year old son, Trey. Despite every effort from her medical team, Michelle experienced another stroke and passed away on Christmas morning. Her family is heartbroken, and the weight of this loss is immeasurable.

At the same time, Trey is hospitalized in Knoxville, 75 miles away from where his mom was receiving care, after experiencing another stroke‑like episode. This is his fourth since August. He has been battling severe headaches, vision loss, and reduced motor skills, all symptoms of the same devastating disease. Trey faces a long and challenging road of recovery ahead, and the family is doing everything they can to support him through each step.

Ben is doing everything he can to care for his family while continuing to work, and their daughter Emily has returned home from college for winter break to help. But the emotional, physical, and financial strain of losing Michelle while also caring for Trey in a separate hospital has been overwhelming.

If you know the Billers, you know their hearts. They are the kind of family who quietly serves, gives generously, and shows up for others without hesitation. They would never ask for help themselves, but Shanna and I have been given permission to share part of their story so that those who love them can step in during this critical time.

We are asking for two things:

1. Prayer— for comfort, healing, and strength as they grieve and walk with Trey through his recovery
