Prayers and Support for Amie's battle against a rare Cancer

Donation protected
Dear Family and Friends,

My name is Jasmine Medina and I’m the one and only daughter of Amie Medina.

I’m reaching out to finally share the story of the superwoman of my life. My mom–Amie was diagnosed with stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma back in September 2023. This news has changed our lives completely ever since, especially as she has had to navigate her biggest battle in health while being a single mother to her only babygirl–me.

Amie is now 45 years old and has always been strong, independent, and a complete fighter. She was a work-aholic. She has always dedicated her life to constantly working ever since immigrating to Hawai’i from the Philippines back in 2004. She has never taken any breaks. She loved her job of being a caregiver and now she needs everyone's support and prayers more than ever.

Unfortunately, her first and dominant tumors occurred in her right side of her liver and was too big and risky to perform surgery to have them removed.

As Amie began her chemo treatments last year, she has fought and faced so many hiccups since. She fractured her spine while undergoing her first type of chemo treatment and radiation back in December 2023 when she then had to undergo spine surgery as the cancer had already migrated from her liver to her spine (T12). Doctors weren’t able to shave off all the cancer cells in her spine because it could have fractured her nerves so they were able to get some off temporarily as the cancer eventually grew back. Since her spine surgery, everything just started to go downhill. Pain was and is still mainly from her back and now is everywhere. She then went on through two different types of chemo treatments and none worked. Later, it spread to her lungs, causing her respiratory system to decline overtime. This cancer is very aggressive. We have tried everything.

Now, Amie is currently in the ICU fighting for her life more than ever. ¾ of her body is giving up and that ¼ is her being able to still talk and be here with us. Doctors said she is only given a few days left and anything can happen and any given moment.

Me and my mom were always so close and for those that know us personally know that me and my mom are like best friends. Our bond is something I’m forever grateful to have and will forever cherish. She has been fighting for over a year and I have been there alongside 100% fighting with her mentally and emotionally to every appointment, every hospital visit, and every obstacle possible.

Now, I’m asking for your help to ease some of this burden on me I’ve been handling things at home and now I’m the only one to take on all our expenses with all of our finances (Ex: groceries, rent, phone bill, wifi, insurance(s), hospital bills, future service expenses, etc…), while being a full time college student. Throughout her ongoing battle, we faced serious financial issues. Her health insurance kept on getting cut here and there.

Your generous contributions will greatly impact my life and especially my mothers–Amie.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Please continue to keep Amie in your prayers.
