Volunteering in Peru

In April of 2020, Lillian and I are volunteering to work in Peru.  Global Volunteers, a non-profit organization, is organizing this amazing opportunity.  I worked with Global Volunteers in 2015 when I volunteered in Montana on the Blackfeet Reservation; and I am so excited to work with them again.

 Though we will pitch in and help with whatever project we are assigned to, Lillian and I will most likely be working at La Comunidad de Niños La Sagrada Familia, a shelter for homeless children and children who have been orphaned, abandoned, or abused.  “The Refuge,” as it is locally known, provides food, education, safety, and health care to these children.  If you’d like to learn more about the kind of work we will be doing, please check out this video: Peru Refuge , or explore Global Volunteer’s page on their efforts in Peru: Volunteering in Peru .

This is an expensive endeavor, however.  Hence, I am raising funds to cover the cost of the program and travel, to provide basic necessities and education for the children, and to help expand the program.    I have a fairly high goal; I aim to raise $10,000 by January 1st.  However, I am optimistic that Lillian and I will nail this thing to the wall.  She is a champion fundraiser, and she has promised to make a few promotional videos to help spread the word (stay tuned).
