My name is Amanda. I am creating this fundraiser in my father’s honor. Out of respect for his pride, he doesn’t know. My beautiful step mother of 20 years( his wife) now is having the most challenging , difficult time of her life. With her health declining abruptly and quickly . My father is her full time care taker as well as a full time provider (which is extremely hard to accomplish. Can’t be in two places at once) Her kidneys are failing with her abdomen and extremities swelling, diabetes causing her to lose her eye sight a little more each day. She has trouble eating , walking and resting. She needs assistance with all daily normal activities. My father is 61, his wife 57. He works so hard every day and life is really hitting them hard right now with the possibility of losing their home. He is trying so hard to work and cover the bills but cannot leave her alone for too long either. As well as , his wife’s mother is living with them whom has dementia and needs the same assistance. He is feeding , bathing , walking and entertaining these women every day because he loves them both so much. He doesn’t complain. He says “oh baby , they’re both just so precious to me” but, my father is slowing down too. This is heavy and he cannot keep up. Financially or physically. The exhaustion is overbearing. I know you’re probably thinking Amanda, why don’t you step up ? They live in Louisiana and I’m in Georgia with 4 kids of my own. I try. I can only do so much , myself. If I could change their lives , I would. And I would sacrifice it all just to see them smile. They’re such amazing people , they all deserve happiness and peace. I know money doesn’t solve all problems, but it’ll help daddy feed Grace ( his wife ) and Barbara (her mama). And it’ll help with medical care , paying their mortgage and missing work.
