Hey everybody, as you may know already I have been helping friends out with automotive repair/maintenance. I enjoy the work and the chance to learn more about these machines that control our lives.
My usual friend deal is that if you buy the part and are willing to listen to me talk about cars, I’ll do the job for free. If the job is beyond my skillset, I direct friends to professional shops I trust.
Since the hurricane, most everyone I know is working reduced/no hours. Suddenly a $80 sensor or a $30 specialized tool is a much larger investment than it used to be. When we diagnose a problem, fixing it is now a larger hurdle than it should be.
I’d like to continue offering diagnosis and labor, but I really don’t want to make people pay for parts when they have no income. People have more than enough to worry about just keeping themselves healthy. My goal is to keep fixing problems and learning.
If I can get a small pile of cash to buy maintenance parts with, I can continue to do this work. A few hundred dollars could cover simple repairs and maintenance for a lot of people now, or a few people over the coming months. I'm looking for financial support to help people with things like:
⁃ PCV Valves
⁃ Replacement sensors
⁃ Cleaning supplies (brake cleaner, shop towels, gloves, etc.)
⁃ Oil change supplies
⁃ Brake supplies
⁃ Specialized tools (o2 sensor wrenches, IR thermometers, etc.)
⁃ Gaskets (Valve cover, throttle body, etc.)
A lot of potentially expensive car issues can be fixed with cheap parts! A lot of people lost their trusted mechanics in the storm! With like $500 I can keep diagnosing problems and fixing them right away.
Thx
