My name is Marsha Jones- Chair of the The Society of African Caribbean Midwives (SoAC) CIC. The Executive Team and the Committee is saddened by the devastating impact on the passage of Category 5 Hurricane to Jamaica. As an organisation, we are asking for your support in securing funds to assist those worse affected by Hurricane Melissa that has left stark devastation across the island of Jamaica.
We are working collaboratively with the Nursing Association of Jamaica (NAJ) in Jamaica. All funds received will be transferred via Jamaica National directly to the NAJ account. We are having regular updates with NAJ to prioritise the resources.
At present some persons are in shelters, infrastructure such as homes, hospitals and schools are in a dire state., whilst others have lost their homes and possessions.
The collected funds will be used primarily to support the elderly, pregnant women, families with babies, young children and those most vulnerable to access supplies such as medications, toiletries, sanitary products, nappies, school supplies and other essential items.
Through various social media channels and hearing from our members, we felt we needed to support in whatever we can. Your donation to help will be greatly appreciated and will help to bring some kind of normalcy to those most affected at this time.
