In 1992, in the heart of Hwange, Zimbabwe, my determined mother turned hardship into hope when she couldn't afford school fees for my twin sister and I. With nothing but faith, love, resilience, and a vision for a better future, she started a small nursery school at home, welcoming not just her twin girls but others from the community facing the same struggle. What began as a desperate act of survival blossomed into a sanctuary of learning and laughter—where chalk met dreams, and every child's giggle was a testament to my mother’s unbreakable spirit.
The name Popeye and Kids was coined by my creative brother who sadly passed away.
Popeye & Kids has always been a non-profit preschool dedicated to providing a nurturing and educational environment for children aged 2 to 6 years old within the community. Our mission is to foster a love for learning, promote social and emotional growth while preparing our students for success in kindergarten and beyond.
Unfortunately, as a non-profit organisation, we rely heavily on donations and fundraising efforts to maintain a high standard of education and care. That's where your vital support comes in.
We're raising funds to support the following initiatives:
- Renovate our playground to create a safer and more engaging outdoor space
- Upgrade our educational materials and resources to align with modern learning standards
- Enhancing our facilities to better support children with special needs
- Providing scholarships and financial assistance to families in need
- Provision of meals for nourishment
