A vibrant and sustainable LGBTQ+ community in Leeds where LGBTQ+ people can live, work, and enjoy life independently. We aim to deliver this through three strands:
Pride of Place Living: a Housing project that aims to construct 70 high quality, fully accessible, flexible and affordable homes in Leeds. with the availability of extra-care for those who need it.
Pride of Place Cultural Community Space: the creation of a thriving Cultural and Community Space for the LGBTQ+ community in Leeds.
Pride of Place Care: the development of provision for LGBTQ+ people with care needs.
Donate, and help us take Pride of Place Leeds to the next level!
Pride of Place Leeds is at an exciting juncture (find out more here). In taking the project forward we are in need of some bridging funds while we work on securing more substantial funding from sources such as the National Lottery. Your donations would mean we can continue to grow the project and secure our vision.
We are are asking for financial support for the following:
1. Solidifying our infrastructure, through being incorporated as a Community Benefit Society - £1,000
2. Running further Community Consultation events during 2021/22 to ensure community input at every stage - £1500
3. Ongoing costs: 12-month website domain name and hosting - £100
4. Ongoing costs: 12-month Zoom account - £175
If we raise more money than this total, any excess will be used to progress Pride of Place Leeds.
We are a small committee of local, passionate and experienced LGBTQ+ individuals, with a range of connections to LGBTQ+ projects across Leeds and beyond.
Established in 2018, Pride of Place Leeds was launched in recognition of the need for appropriate housing with integrated extra care and support for the LGBTQ+ community. Our vision of LGBTQ+ affirmative housing is of the provision of multi-generational living run by and for the LGBTQ+ community that would offer inter-resident support and care services, as well as accommodation for young LGBTQ+ people.
Our vision also includes a Cultural Community Space, that is connected to the housing complex but available for the whole LGBT+ community to use. Scope for this space so far includes a café and bar, performance space, and renting out office and meeting space for LGBTQ+ services and enterprises.
