Hi, my name is Anja. After spending ten inspiring months in Uganda, I helped launch Pigability, a community initiative that partners with families to create opportunity through sustainable farming. I live in Norway, and all donations received here will be sent directly to our trusted colleagues and friends in Uganda who carry this work forward.

Our Story

In the beautiful and vibrant communities of southwestern Uganda, life is rooted in resilience. Families navigate challenges with creativity and care, but often lack access to tools and resources that could help them thrive.

Pigability was born from this strength — to recognize potential, honour ability, and create new paths to self-reliance for families raising children with disabilities.

Our Vision

Pigability empowers women and caregivers by providing a productive asset — a pig — that becomes the foundation for income, nutrition, and community connection. Each pig is not just an animal; it’s a catalyst for growth.

Through a cooperative, pay-it-forward model, every participant supports others — multiplying the impact across families and villages.

A single pig can benefit up to *54 people* through shared breeding, training, and redistribution.

How It Works

* Each participant receives a vaccinated pig and builds a sturdy pen using local materials.

* Two piglets are later returned: one as a contribution to the program, and one to empower another family.

* The remaining piglets are used for income, food, or school fees — creating long-term financial stability.

* The program currently serves the Bwindi and Kisoro regions, with plans to expand to neighbouring communities.

This model emphasizes ownership, accountability, and pride in achievement — each family builds on their own capacity while contributing to a stronger collective.
