There is something special about holding someone’s hand.
We are a small group of friends and licensed nail technicians who recently found ourselves talking about how simple acts of care can mean so much — especially for elderly residents who may not always have access to self-care services.
That conversation became The Polished Hearts Project.
This spring/summer, we will be volunteering our time in local retirement and nursing homes to provide complimentary mini manicures for residents. Gentle nail trimming, shaping, strengthening treatments, and classic polish options — all offered with patience, safety, and warmth.
For many seniors, a manicure is not just about polished nails.
It’s about touch.
It’s about conversation.
It’s about feeling seen.
We want to create a space where residents can sit, relax, choose a color, and feel cared for — even if just for a little while.
These events are completely volunteer-based. No resident will ever be charged.
We are raising funds to cover supplies, sanitation materials, strengtheners, disposable tools, drying products, and small appreciation gifts for both residents and the hardworking staff who care for them every day.
If you feel moved to support this project, any contribution — big or small — helps us bring softness and joy into spaces that deserve it deeply.
Thank you for helping us polish hearts
— The Polished Hearts Team
