On January 1st, two best friends will run into the freezing Atlantic Ocean to welcome a new year in Coney Island.
We’re doing the Polar Bear Plunge not just for the thrill (or the shock), but for something much bigger...
This plunge is in honor of our best friend Rhiana. Rhi was the heartbeat of Camp Ma-He-Tu for us; the place where our friendship was formed, strengthened, and forever rooted. Camp wasn’t just a summer place for us; it was home, and Rhi was at the center of it.
As we move into a new year without her, we’re trying to be intentional about how we honor her, by showing up, by doing hard things, and by giving back to the place she loved so deeply.
Our goal: to send a camper to Camp Ma-He-Tu in Rhi’s name.
Every dollar raised will go directly to the Camp Ma-He-Tu Camper Scholarship Fund, helping ensure that another child gets to experience the joy, belonging, and lifelong friendships that camp gave us.
Thank you for helping us honor our best friend, our camp, and the love that continues to connect us.
We’ll be freezing for a few minutes, but carrying her with us always.
Much love,
Katrina, Danielle and their Polar Bear Crew
