Point Taken

Hello everyone & thank you for taking the time to check out my fundraising page! My name is Ger O’Connell, native of Pallasgreen & passionate GAA supporter. I am lucky enough to say that I am kitman to the Limerick Senior hurling team, a job that I find very rewarding.

Since Limerick's fantastic All Ireland victory last December, I started walking every night and weekends and even the odd climb of Nicker Hill. While out walking an idea struck me in connection with the Limerick team and how I could raise money for a charity very close to my heart. What if I could walk 1km for every point scored by the Limerick team in their All Ireland Championship run! That’s 141km in total.

It's titled "Point Taken" a fundraising walk in aid of the Daughters of Charity Lisnagry.

My sister Catherine is a resident there since she was just four years old. Catherine or Katie as she is known to the staff is battling all her life, when she was born she was critical weighing in at only 2lbs 2oz. The care she has gotten since and to this day is outstanding; the staff in St Vincents are so very special and caring. When visiting there I've always left very happy knowing that Catherine is well looked after and that means so much. Even Last Christmas morning I visited her house but only from the door I could connect and she was all smiles and giddy. Not alone are The Daughters of Charity Lisnagry battling the pandemic but also battling for much needed funds in these tough times.

Those who know me will know I have been involved in many fundraisers throughout the years but I promised myself the next fundraiser I would do would be for Lisnagry and so the foundation is set.

I’m starting on March 1st and finishing St Patrick's Day 17th. It'll consist of keeping within the current government restrictions, we are very lucky in the parish to have a footpath from Pallasgreen to Nicker Church and that will be the focal point of the walk for five evenings a week plus three times every Saturday and Sunday. Every day I'll be wearing a different number Limerick jersey for each walk.

All support would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again
