Hello Families and Friends of Point Nipigon,
We are working with Nipigoner and Landscape Architect Jack Barnwell, to create and install a beautiful, safe, and aesthetic gathering spot for our community that is in keeping with the traditions of our beloved resort. Your committee is pleased to report that we are very close to reaching our goal, thanks to your generous GoFundMe donations, as well as the checks (payable to PNRC via Nieland & Kosanke, 201 S. Main St, Cheboygan 49721) we've received to date. Updates to our initial conceptual design:
- Refreshed, clean, safe playground surface, using playground grade soft mulch in keeping with the aesthetics of the park
- New cedar play structure, appropriate for young children
- Dedicated sand play area
- New "built-in" climbing structure, with natural elements for older children
- We will keep the existing Monkey-bar structure at this time, eliminating the initially proposed Parcour structure
- New plantings (some trees, shrubs) surrounding the play areas
- Boulders/Peeled posts & logs for edging
- New plantings around the front of the Lodge
We hope to complete this fundraising drive this Spring, as we plan for installation prior to Memorial Day weekend. THANKS for your support!
