This is going to be hard. Pocho was my cousin, my best friend, my best man, my guiding light. While I type these words, I cannot believe that he is not in this world anymore. Every single memory I have from my youth through adulthood involves Pocho. The last memory I have with him is from a zoom call and he was reading a book to his 2-year old daughter, Alison. He was laying in his bed recovering from a serious procedure and spending a whole month in the ICU away from everyone he loves. I told him how much I love him and I was glad that he was back fighting this curse of leukemia.
Alfonso, better known as Pocho, was an extraordinary husband, father, son, brother, cousin, and best friend to many in his community. It is with a heavy heart, that I share his passing after a long battle with leukemia. In 2019, Pocho began his fight with leukemia and continued fighting for more than two long years. Unfortunately, the cancer treatments were expensive and took a toll on his family financially and emotionally.
Pocho loved his family more than anything and worked hard to provide everything that they needed. He was and still is loved by so many and we want to ensure that his family is supported through this difficult time. Pocho was the primary source of income for his family and always looked out for his sister with special needs.
On March 11, 2021, Pocho found peace but leaves behind a family and a large amount of medical debt. Please help us support his beautiful 2-year old daughter, Alison, his wife Sucely, and other family dependents as they grieve our beloved Pocho.
