Hi, I wanted to share my sister and her husband’s story and ask that you keep them in your prayers. If you are able, any donations would be greatly appreciated.
While most freshmen in high school are enjoying new found freedoms and discovering their true selves, Mike was faced with learning to live with diabetes as a 15 year old kid. However, he learned how to manage this life altering disease and had a successful and fulfilling high school and college career. His quiet yet determined personality would lead him to a career in property management. Even with a successful career, Mike wanted more and soon met his best friend and wife, Leanne. Life was great, but diabetes was always there silently wrecking havoc on Mike’s body.
But Mike never gave up even when this disease caused a life threatening bloodstream infection leading to a toe amputation in October 2021. Mike fought hard to gain better control of his diabetes and fight for the life he is building with Leanne and their 2 boys. After 4 months of recovery from the amputation and returning back to work, Mike was faced with another bone infection in his foot. Varying opinions about if he would keep his foot and leg has landed Mike back in the hospital for 2 weeks. Having used all of his FMLA leave from his employer, this latest hospitalization has left Mike’s employment in jeopardy amidst mounting medical expenses.
Those of you who know Mike know that he is a very smart, caring, strong minded, independent man, but also prideful. Even though times were tough last October during his amputation and 4 months at home he with the help of family got through the holidays and little Koren’s second birthday. But with so much uncertainty ahead, Mike and his family could use your help with living expenses and medical debt. Mike is blessed with friends and family who have prayed for his healing and recovery and he is so thankful and anxious to begin life again and continue to fight this disease.
