This is my little brother Norris hes 17 years old and has a form of severe Autism and is also non-verbal which makes this situation difficult for me and my family because he doesn't quite understand what’s going on with his body. Recently about a few months ago myself and my mom noticed he started losing a lot of weight as well as losing his appetite and not wanting to eat much throughout the day. My mom really started getting worried so she took him to his doctor and after numerous blood tests and ultrasounds they discovered he had a kidney disease called Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). I'm not sure how familiar you guys might be with FSGS but it's a disease where scar tissue begins to form on parts of the kidney that filter out waste from the blood and if serious enough can lead to kidney failure. The doctor told us that Norris would need a kidney transplant and that his kidney was only working at 22 percent. This was so unexpected and broke our hearts. We’re still in shock trying to wrap this around our heads and worried, especially knowing my brother can’t tell my mom he’s in pain . In the midst of trying to get a grip on all of this stuff and trying to stay strong my mom just found out from her landlord that she’s rented from for ten years she will have to be moving because they’re selling the property. They gave her until June 30th to find a place or buy it and honestly I’m not sure if she will find a place in time or have the amount needed for a down payment . She’s on a fixed income and unable to work due to health issues. My moms never been one to ask for help but she really doesn't know what to do and is really stressed out. I chose to do this for my brother and her otherwise she wouldn’t, my mom is a strong single mother and has always worked hard and she hates asking people for help. After Norris transplant he’ll need a safe and clean home to come to. We’d greatly appreciate anything for expenses to buy the home or moving, so we can find a safe place to take my little brother to after his surgery so he can recover comfortably. Unfortunately it can be difficult to stay with family members as my little brother is Autistic and has meltdowns and many sensory behaviors. We really don’t have many options except to quickly find a home or come up with a down payment. Thank you all and please I ask for prayers for my little brother during this time and that we can find him a transplant soon as well as a safe home or the opportunity to keep our current home.
