In July 2017, Evan, Brie, and I will be going on a mission trip with a team from Woodland Community Church. On this mission trip to Peru we will travel down the Ucayali River to serve the indigenous Shipibo people. While we are serving the Shipibo people, we will live on an Amazon riverboat, the Evangelista. The Evangelista has been instrumental in bringing the good news of Jesus Christ to the people on the river.
Our main mission in the village will be helping to construct a church. The gospel is new to the Shipibo people and can sometimes take awhile to take root in their lives. We will be able to help provide them with a house of worship in which they can gather and learn. We will also have the opportunity to serve the children in the village with a VBS program.
We are ecstatic and humbled to have this opportunity to serve the Shipibo people in Peru. We know this will be a life changing experience for us. Evan and I set a goal many years ago that before each of our children graduate from highschool we want to go on a over seas missions trip. Since this upcoming school year will be Brie's senior year, we felt this would be a perfect opportunity to fullfill this goal that God laid on our hearts many years ago. Please pray for us and our team as we prepare our hearts for this trip. I know God is going do amazing things!
Our team has already begun fundraising for this trip. We have plans to do babysitting nights, a massive yard sale, flocking yards with flamingos, and concession work at an arena. But we cannot go without the support from friends, family, and our church. The full cost for the three of us is $7,500. That amount doesn't include passports, immunizations, and purchasing supplies that we may neeed. Please consider donating to our mission trip fund. Your donation will not only bless us, the Shipibo people, but also yourself. No donation is too small.
We want to ask you to be a part of our trip through prayer. God will use your prayers to guide us and those that we encounter. We will be journeying to Peru July 5th to the 15th. Pray for our physical strength, mental fortitude, and a heart that will be open to all God will reveal. Pray for our health, safety, and Brennen and Brooke as they will not be with us on this trip.
