Clifford Correia, 27, and Derrick McKeown, 33, killed in separate shootings hours apart Two men are dead and a woman is in life-threatening condition after two separate shootings in Brampton, Ont., overnight Sunday that police believe were targeted and connected.
The violent night began shortly after 12:40 a.m., when officers were called to the area of Vodden Street E. and Garfield Crescent, near Kennedy Road N., for reports of gunfire.
They found a man and a 28-year-old woman with bullet wounds. Paramedics transported them to a trauma centre, where the man later died.
The male victim has been identified by police as Clifford Correia, a 27-year-old from Brampton. The female victim is from Georgetown, Ont., police said.
Bullet holes were also visible on the back passenger window of an A-1 Taxi cab at the scene.
Const. Danny Marttini, spokesperson for Peel Regional Police, would not say if the victims were in the back of a taxi when they were shot.
The driver of the taxi was not injured and he has spoken to police, Marttini said. She could not say whether he was in the vehicle when it was struck by gunfire.
A male suspect, dressed in dark clothing, was seen fleeing the area in a dark Ford F-150 pickup truck, according to Marttini.
Police believe that Correia's death is connected to a separate, targeted fatal shooting only kilometres away, several hours later in Brampton.
