Plymouth children's sensory group

Jade and I (Rachel) are support workers for children and adolescents with a diagnosis of Autism, learning difficulties or mental health problems in our local community.  We are currently working on a voluntary project to develop a sensory group, "Sense-Aware", to enable the children to become aware and take ownership of their own behaviour and emotions through engagement in sensory based activities. Funding for young people is incredibly limited - but the benefits that this group could bring the young people who we support are vast. Our aim is to make these groups more inclusive for young people with Autism especially.

As Occupational Therapy students we can offer our time and knowledge, but we are financially limited. Therefore, we are raising funds to purchase the sensory equipment required. Many of the items we are making by hand, or creating with the children at the group. However, the equipment and materials aren't cheap and we would appreciate any financial support - no matter how small.

Alternatively, if you would like to purchase something directly for the group, we would happily accept donations of items or items purchased from our wish list.
