People in DC facing hunger need your support

Tax deductible

Dear friends,

Our long-time partner DC Central Kitchen is matching all donations of $5,000. Will you give generously today so we can keep pushing to provide nutritious food to our community?

My name is Connie Williams, and I am on a mission to make a significant impact in the lives of those struggling with food insecurity here in Washington, DC. Through my organization, Plenty to Eat, I have been working tirelessly to provide nutritious meals to communities that face challenges with food security. I humbly ask for support, as we aim to secure $100,000 to maintain our operations and meet the urgent demand for food, especially with the arrival of migrants seeking shelter and sustenance.

My Journey: Growing up in Washington, DC, I experienced first hand hardships when it came to my family being able to consistently put food on the table. It was quite a struggle and I knew I had to do something to change this reality for myself - and eventually for others.

In 2018, I founded Plenty to Eat. Our mission was simple yet powerful: to ensure that no one goes hungry in our neighborhoods. With a team of dedicated volunteers, we began giving away bags of groceries that were centered around nutrition. We wanted to provide hope, love, and a sense of belonging to those we served.

The Impact So Far: Since our humble beginnings, "Plenty to Eat" has been making a difference in the lives of thousands in Washington, DC. We have formed strong bonds within the community, empowering individuals to break free from the cycle of poverty and hunger.

The New Challenge: Recently, our city has seen an influx of migrants seeking refuge and a better life. These newcomers arrive with little to nothing, including access to basic necessities like food. As a result, the demand for our services at Plenty to Eat has doubled, stretching our resources thin.

To continue our vital work and accommodate the increased demand, we need to expand our network of food partners. By raising $100,000, we aim to establish new partnerships with local grocery stores, farms, and food suppliers. This will enable us to access more surplus food, reducing waste and providing even more meals to those in need.

Your Support Matters: Your generosity can make an incredible difference in the lives of countless individuals facing hunger in Washington, DC. By contributing to our cause, you will not only help us secure more food partners but also ensure that we have the necessary resources to make a lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable community members and newly arrived migrants.

Every dollar you donate supports our community with food, toiletries and other much-needed support.

Together, we can create a more nourished and united community in Washington, DC.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and compassion. Please consider donating whatever you can.

Donate today and be a part of this journey so all can have access to plenty of nutritious food for themselves and their families.

Warmly,
Connie
