Please help our precious Sally

Hi, my name is Rene, and I'm from St. Johns Newfoundland, Canada. I'm fundraising (along with my sister Laura) to help our dog Sally get surgery for her growing inflamed toe due to losing a nail.

Sally was our mothers dog and companion. She helped our mom through the most difficult year of her life. She was her girl. Now because mom is gone and our stepfather has passed ,we stepped up to care for her as nobody else could and we would never just give her to a stranger. We promised our mom if anything happened she would be cared for. However we can only do so much.

But we will fight for her. The vet that we had let her and us down unbelievably! She needs to see a veterinary surgeon as the toe has now swollen so bad growths have taken over her paw. This has now greatly affected her quality of life in terms of mobility. Her pain is obvious despite our efforts to keep it clean and wrapped, and to keep her from biting and licking at it.She refuses to keep bandages on or a cone, so we clean it and she goes back to licking it. Unfortunately now it has a terrible odour due to exposed tissue damage.

We got Sally the end of last year as our mom had passed away, and now, in February of 2025 our stepfather passed.

He was unable to care for her as his health was sharply declining after mom's death in 2023; his plan was to get her put down ultimately, which is an awful, unconscionable thing to do to a perfectly healthy dog who trusts you. She came to us overweight as she was given everything she wanted ( or took off with like a half of a Christmas ham one year when mom wasn't looking,lol) Sally is a character.

But inevitable vet bills happen and since I am single myself, and my sister and I are low income, sharing an apartment with my sisters senior dog as well.This isn't really something we can handle on our own. We love them so much. Laura does everything she can to provide natural treatment to both. Chase is 15 and Sally just turned 13. But she is at a very healthy weight as at our place she can't " counter surf". She gets a balanced diet.

But despite Laura's best efforts it's STILL not enough, her mental health has been suffering , finding work is challenging. If anyone out there is able to help us get Sally back a little mobility I'd be hugely greatful. More than anything we want her to be out of pain and able to go on long walks again like she used to.
