Hi everyone, it's Anthony. As many of you know, we had a terrible tragedy in our family over the weekend. My grandchildren's Father, has dealt with mental health issues through the years, that sadly he could not overcome.
It has been a completely mind-numbing experience for me to see the pain my daughter is going through, as well as the crushing thoughts I have about what my grandchildren will have to go through, because of this.
Luckily, I have done a lot of work through the years to develop the healthy skills necessary to navigate this difficult time.
For those of you that know me, know that by nature, I am a giver and not a taker. I will do anything for anyone, at any time.
Having said that, I also want to say that I always thought, why would people go to GoFundMe for help. I am realizing through reflection this weekend, that the reason is, sometimes, to just take one small worry off the plate of people who are grieving deeply, like my daughter is.
So I have decided to set up this GoFundMe, to help Kayla and the kids navigate through this tough time, with all of the parental responsibility now falling fully on her.
This GoFundMe will be administered by me and will go towards items the kids need, such as the mental healthcare, schooling and other basic needs, along with providing resources for Kayla and the kids to best heal in a healthy manner.
Kayla and the kids have a tremendous emotional support system to help get them through this, ad
nd i want to make sure they also have the resources to do so.
I guess the bottom line is my heart is broken for the three of them, and my reaction is to spring into action to try and ease the overwhelming burden they will feel.
If you can help, great. If you can't, don't feel bad. I am already overwhelmed with the amount of you that have reached out in support. It makes me feel that the way you treat people, really does come back around when you need it most.
Sorry for the long-winded explanation, but maybe in some way, it was part of my healing process to get this all out.
Check in on your people, just tell them you love them, and don't sweat the small stuff, 'cause none of it really matters in the end.
Love you all and thank you in advance for your help!
